Safety & Responsibility

Classification

This topic is part of the introductory section "Start & Basics".
It forms the foundation for safe and responsible handling of slingshots.

Slingshots are powerful sports equipment.
Improper handling can lead to serious injuries or property damage.

Safety is not an option

A slingshot is not a toy.
Even simple setups can transfer significant energy.

Safety is not a matter of luck, but of:

  • clear rules

  • suitable equipment

  • responsible behavior

Basic rules for safe handling

When handling slingshots, there are some non-negotiable basic rules:

  • Never aim at people or animals – not even for fun.

  • Only shoot at suitable targets with a safe background, e.g., ball traps or targets.

  • Avoid hard surfaces and unclear areas.

  • Always wear safety glasses - Available directly from us

  • Store slingshots securely and out of reach of children.

Rubber bands: Performance and Risk

Rubber bands are wear parts and a safety-relevant component.

Important:

  • Regularly check bands for cracks, wear, or material fatigue.

  • Do not exceed the recommended draw ratio.

  • Mount bands correctly, regardless of the attachment system.

  • Only use suitable ammunition with a smooth surface.
Improvised ammunition can splinter or ricochet unpredictably.

A band break can cause unpredictable movements and lead to injuries.

Environment and Responsibility

Before each shot, the surroundings should be consciously checked:

  • No people, animals, or sensitive objects in the danger zone.

  • Do not use in places where use may be legally problematic.

  • If in doubt: do not shoot.

The user always bears full responsibility for their actions.

Care and secure storage

Safe handling does not end with shooting.

  • Protect rubber bands from sun, heat, and moisture.

  • Store dry, dark, and at moderate temperatures.

Safety check before shooting

A quick check is recommended before each shot:

  • Target secure and clear

  • Safety glasses worn

  • Rubber bands undamaged

  • Area clear of people

  • Bands correctly attached

This routine significantly reduces risks.

Responsibility in Handling

Whoever uses a slingshot takes on responsibility –
for themselves and for others.

Safety is not an addition, but a prerequisite for this sport.
