What is the difference between OTT and TTF?
When it comes to slingshots, two terms frequently come up: OTT and TTF. Both describe how the elastic band is attached to the fork – and directly influence the shooting feel, aiming technique, and even the choice of elastic band.
OTT – Over The Top

With OTT (Over The Top), the elastic band runs over the top of the fork. This means: The projectile leaves the slingshot exactly above the center of the fork.
This variant is extremely popular because it feels very direct and allows you to make fast, clean shots.
Typical characteristics:
-
Direct trajectory over the fork
-
Very good feel for "linear aiming"
-
Perfect for smaller forks or narrow frames
-
Ideal for intuitive or fast aiming techniques
TTF – Through The Fork

TTF stands for Through The Fork – meaning "through the fork". The elastic band is guided laterally through cutouts or slots on the fork arms. The projectile therefore flies between the two fork ends – at a slightly lower level than with OTT.
Characteristics of TTF:
-
Wider frames possible, more stability when holding
-
Very precise aiming picture with "reference aiming"
-
Lower risk of hitting the fork with the projectile ("fork hit") when shot correctly
Conclusion
What is better depends heavily on your style. Many start with OTT because it's a bit more intuitive to shoot. Ultimately, however, it's a matter of individual preference what suits you more. So there's no "right" or "wrong".
